ABSTRACT

The extraction rate for periodontaly involved anterior teeth is especially high. This causes esthetic, functional and phonetic problems. The importance of these disorders render it necessary to preserve anterior teeth for a period as long as possible. The main principle in the apical resection is that the length of the involved apical part must not be more than 1/3 of the root length. If the crown-root ratio is altered, the tooth will exfoliate itself as a result of the mastication trauma. Some clinical research work has been done to preserve those teeth which otherwise would have been removed due to excessive periodontal destruction. A new endodontic stabilization technic different from previous works has been used on 20 patients by us. The endodontic stabilizer was inserted into the bone at the floor of surgical cavity, and so, the tooth was fixed to the bone. Since there is no mobility just after the surgical intervention, perfect ossification was noted and the implant was tightly surrounded by new bone. Three years later, the teeth were found in good condition clinically, radiographically and functionally

ABSTRACT

White sponge nevus [WSN] is a rare, asymptomatic and hereditary condition. It is transmitted by autosomal dominant gene and has been observed in the oral, nasal, pharyngeal, vaginal and anal mucosa. Since Cannon [1935] some WSN have been reported [29 patients]. Review of the literature has revealed that the number reported previously is not as large as reported in this article, and, has not so many affected members. This is probably due to marriages between close relatives, high birth rate and extensive investigation on the line. This line consisting of 64 members, there are 4 close relatives marriages. Of these 64 members, 24 are affected [37.5%], 40 are not [62.5%]. All patients were healthy and had good oral hygiene. In the light of clinical and histologic findings, it has been determined that WSN is definitely a hereaditary disease inherited as autosomal dominant gene
